The soiled cloths used as the canvas to the piece reference the clothing worn in present day by men who take part in the annual 'greasy pole' climbing event during Fox Hill Day in The Bahamas, and reflects on the historical significance dating back to the 1800s when people of colour toiled as slaves.

Black Britain is a reference book designed to represents the pride of heritage and culture within Britain’s black community and challenges the prevailing preconceptions and attitudes towards this minority group.
