Meet The Artist: Anina Banks

Bahamar, is a series of tiles inspired by the landscapes of Bahamian islands. Absolutely fascinated by how land mass adopt such unique forms and textures when viewed from the sky; is the mindset that these pieces are created. Composed of limestone rock it only seemed appropriate to create these pieces using white stoneware clay.

The Alvania Saphora collection is an ongoing dialogue between the exterior textures and the contrasting smooth interior surfaces. Inspired by the coral reefs of tropical waters, this collection attempts to fossilize the dynamic characteristics of underwater inhabitants. It embodies my desire to create a protective shell, that not only guards my most private thoughts and emotions, but is beautiful in appearance. As a result each piece is glazed to exhibit a shell-like finish.
